Hey All,
The Worcester Energy Barn-Raisers (the WEB) is an all-volunteer building weatherization group that organizes collaborative home energy efficiency projects. Through energy "barn-raisings," volunteers learn valuable, replicable skills from team leaders that they can apply at home to reduce energy consumption and heating bills. Barn-raising skills provide a foundation for green collar jobs, while barn-raisings reduce our collective carbon footprint. Visit us at www.energybarnraising.org.
What you will be funding
Video is a powerful tool for disseminating knowledge and skills to wide and diverse audiences. We received partial funding for video equipment from the Massachusetts Climate Action Network. We are now raising the remaining funds we need to begin production.
We plan to produce short, informative, and entertaining videos to be produced over social media, such as YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook, and on websites and blogs. Longer videos will be broadcast over local access television. Our videos will address topics related to weatherization, energy conservation, and sustainable home and community living. Each video will focus on specific local issues that will be linked to broader topics. For example, a survey of actions to plug air leaks in the home will be linked to broader benefits of carbon reduction. Planned videos also feature collaboration between the WEB and other local groups, including the Regional Environmental Council, Youth Grow, a youth group that manages and farm and markets fresh, affordable produce, and the Habitat for Humanity Restore store.
