We Only Get One World

From 350.org: "What's the best way to introduce the world to 350? With over 4000 languages spoken around the world, it's probably not with a bunch of words. So, we did our best to boil down the science of global warming and vision of the 350 Campaign in 90 seconds--in a video with no words." (no words until the end of the video).

So what does it mean? Well 350.org is a global environmental movement.  The number 350 refers to a goal.  The goal is to get the concentration of Carbon dioxide in our atmosphere (in parts per million) back down to AT  LEAST a safe limit: 350 parts per million.

Right now it is at about 388 ppm and rises approximately 2 ppm per year. Source

The only way to reduce this number is through action and not just by one person acting alone.  There needs to be a movement of people to act across the globe.  And everything counts: riding your bike a little more often and driving your car a little less; slightly turning down the thermostat in the winter and up in the summer;  designing or investing in wind turbine farms to substitute energy from coal plants or writing a blog on how people can implement a little sustainability into their everyday lives ;-) .  It means spreading the word and making people aware that they have the power to make a difference.

We only get one Earth. So let's work together to minimize this from happening:

"If the present overshoot of this target CO2 is not brief, there is a possibility of seeding irreversible catastrophic effects."  Source: Hansen, James, et al. Target Atmospheric CO2: Where Should Humanity Aim? Submitted April 7, 2008. NASA climate scientist James Hansen's paper about the 350ppm target.

We have the capacity to prevent this from happening.  Together we can bring Greenhouse Gas (GHG) in the atmosphere back down to safer levels. We can make a difference.  EVERYONE can make a difference.
